The general objective of the project is to improve transport infrastructure in order to facilitate accessibility of the target area and better movement of people and goods across the border. Specific objectives are: ensuring conditions for sustainable transportation and environment by constructing a high-quality cross-border road between Bagamér and Voivozi, improving the cross-border accessibility of the affected disadvantaged micro-region, reducing distance and travel time between Bagamér and Voivozi (Simian) and increasing travel safety in the target area.

The target groups of the project are represented by the local population of Bagamér and Şimian, 6463 persons (3353 women / 3110 men).
The project will generate increase in demand for cross-border cooperation between the communities, institutions and economic actors of the two settlements; it will facilitate the connection of the target area’s population and of local enterprises to the cross-border road network.
The two settlements will be connected with a 4,474 km (HU 2590,8, RO 1883,13) length hard surfaced road. On the Hungarian side of the border the track of the projected road has a 5 m width surface with 1,5-1,5 width roadsides within 0+000-0+455 km sections, 3 m width surface with 1,5-1,5 roadsides between 0+455-1+392 km sections, while the track between 1+392-2+592.5 km sections is a dirt road. The road track continues on the Romanian side of the border, and it is a road track, as well. On the Hungarian side of the border the investment includes road surface strengthening and widening, as well as road construction in the peripheries, while on the Romanian side it includes road construction. The project proposes to rehabilitate and construct the road infrastructure in the partner localities, increasing road safety and saving travel period by increasing the circulation speed. The rehabilitation and construction of the proposed road contributes to increased road safety and traffic speed; therefore the premises of economical growth and the competitiveness of the firms using the new transport route will be ensured.

The main activities of this project are: technical planning and authorization (preparation and verification of architectural and technical design documentation, obtaining building permits, obtaining the occupancy permit and other necessary permits), construction works (road construction, asphalt layer installation, works related to drainage system creation).

The target groups of the project are represented by the local population of Bagamér and Şimian (6576 persons) and the local population of other settlements from the involved micro-regions, (about 60 000 persons).
